Bushenyi School Shines at National Primary MDD Championship

Parental Care Nursery and Primary School from Bushenyi has emerged victorious at the national Primary Schools Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) Championship, outshining 114 other schools.

The week-long event, which culminated in Iganga District, celebrated the theme ‘A safe learning environment for social transformation.’ Parental Care demonstrated exceptional talent, securing victory in seven out of thirteen categories with an impressive score exceeding 96 percent.

Nakivubo Blue Primary School secured the second position, with Buganda Road Primary School following in third. The top ten also included Oasis Primary School, St. Julie Primary School, Clevers’ Origin, St. Theresa Namilyango, Namilyango Junior Boys, Mbarara Junior School, and Tennessee Valley Primary School.

Dr. Florence Isabirye Muranga, Executive Director of the Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development (PIBID), emphasized the importance of extracurricular activities for holistic child development, noting that a safe learning environment extends beyond the classroom.

Mr. Robert Nikwapu, Assistant Commissioner for Primary Education, praised the participants and affirmed the Ministry of Education and Sports’ dedication to practical, hands-on learning. He highlighted how nurturing talent early can foster self-reliance and mitigate future unemployment.

Mr. Trevor Yebazamukama, Director of Parental Care Nursery and Primary School, credited the win to the unwavering teamwork and dedication of pupils, staff, and parents, noting the vibrant performances that captivated the audience and judges alike.

The championship saw participation from 115 primary schools, with a total of 17,763 pupils representing various regions across Uganda.
