Veteran Producer Washington Recognizes Top Ugandan Music Talent

Veteran producer Washington has shared his insights on the most impactful music producers in Uganda, acknowledging a mix of established and emerging talents.

Among those he believes are making significant contributions are Michael Fingers, Steve Jeans, and Andrew Ahuura. Washington also lauded the work of Benon Mugumbya from Swangz Avenue, alongside producers Rinex and Banger Boy, also associated with Swangz Avenue, for their role in the industry’s evolution.

Producer Axon, recognized for his collaborative work with singer Joshua Baraka, received specific encouragement from Washington to broaden his artistic partnerships. “Step out and work with other artists too. Bless them with your sound so that our whole industry can sound beautiful and vibrant,” Washington advised, emphasizing the importance of wider collaboration for industry growth and exposure.

Reflecting on his own extensive career, Washington pointed to his deliberate strategy of working with a diverse range of artists across Uganda and the wider East African region, rather than confining himself to a limited group. He cited his past collaborations with notable artists such as Cindy Sanyu, Jackie Chandiru, and Juliana Kanyomozi as examples of this inclusive approach.
