Kid Fox Admits Disconnect from Uganda's Current Music Scene

Kid Fox, a figure in Uganda’s music industry, has openly admitted that he is not up-to-date with the latest trends and artists dominating the local music scene. He explained that his extended periods spent abroad have resulted in him being unfamiliar with many of the musicians currently gaining popularity.

In a recent television interview, Kid Fox shared his efforts to reconnect with the younger generation of artists, particularly through platforms like TikTok. However, he confessed that despite these attempts, he still finds himself unable to recognize most of the names making headlines in the industry.

“I don’t know current Ugandan musicians. I have tried to follow up on TikTok. However, most of them I have no idea,” Kid Fox stated.

This disconnect became even more evident when the interview host brought up specific artists. Kid Fox admitted to not knowing who Ray G, Tracy Melon, and Elijah Kitaka were, despite their noticeable presence and growing fan base within Uganda’s music circles.

This situation underscores a potential generational divide, often seen between established artists who have spent considerable time outside the country and newer artists who have leveraged digital platforms, such as TikTok, to build their careers and connect with audiences. Kid Fox’s comments highlight the evolving nature of music discovery and artist recognition in Uganda.
