Suspects in Footballer David Owori's Killing Re-enact Crime Scene

Detectives investigating the murder of Sports Club Villa captain David Owori have taken several suspects back to the Makindye Division in Kampala to meticulously retrace the events of the night the footballer was attacked.
At least five individuals were escorted by police to various locations within Makindye, including the Dubai Zone, identified as the primary site where Owori was allegedly assaulted. This crime scene reconstruction is a standard procedure that helps investigators piece together the sequence of events and understand the roles played by each suspect.
During the reconstruction, the suspects reportedly guided detectives through the planning of the attack, the act itself, and their subsequent escape. They allegedly detailed their individual contributions to the crime, with police documenting every movement and questioning the individuals involved.
The investigation has so far led to the arrest of 17 suspects. Police have also recovered crucial evidence, including Owori’s mobile phones, shoes, and other personal belongings, from the residences of some of the accused. These items are undergoing forensic examination.
In a significant development, the wife of one of the arrested suspects informed police that her husband had been actively monitoring the murder investigation on social media. She also indicated that the suspect frequently communicated with his accomplices about the case and allegedly returned home in the early hours of the morning on the day of the attack with the deceased’s bag and other suspected stolen items.
Crime scene reconstruction is typically among the final stages of a police investigation before the case file is forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions. It is often conducted when suspects have admitted their involvement in the alleged offense.
