Next Media Group CEO, Kin Kariisa, paid a visit to Brian “Makona” Ssemanda at Case Hospital, offering words of encouragement as Makona recovers from injuries sustained in a recent accident. The incident, which occurred on Friday, August 7, 2026, tragically claimed the lives of two of their colleagues, Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye.

During his visit, Kariisa shared positive news regarding Makona’s health, stating that he is responding well to treatment and is expected to be discharged within the next few days. “He is not in a very bad condition. Case Hospital has taken good care of him. He is out of danger, and in two or three days he will be discharged from the hospital,” Kariisa reported, adding that Makona “does not have any major issues.”

Kariisa also confirmed that Makona has recently been informed about the loss of his colleagues. This news has been difficult for him to process. “It is hard for him, but we are going to get counsellors to take him through the mental recovery,” Kariisa stated, emphasizing the company’s intention to provide mental health support.

This visit and ongoing support reflect Next Media’s dedication to its employees during this challenging time. The leadership continues to stand with the families of the deceased colleagues, Badru and Isaac, as well as with Brian Makona throughout his recovery. The company recently held a grief therapy session for its staff, led by Safe Places Uganda, to help them cope with the loss.

Makona was initially taken to Kisubi Hospital before being transferred to Case Hospital for continuous monitoring and specialized care. Next Media has affirmed its commitment to supporting both Brian’s recovery and the families of those who lost their lives.
