SFC Bids Farewell to 67 Officers and Soldiers for Dedicated Service

The Special Forces Command (SFC) recently held a ceremony to honor 67 officers and soldiers as they transition from active military service. These individuals were recognized for their dedicated and selfless contributions to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) during their careers.

The group included a diverse range of ranks, from corporals to captains and warrant officers, all of whom have completed notable service.

Col. Night Ikiriza, Director of Human Resource Management at SFC, read the citations, commending the retirees for their courage, discipline, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to defending Uganda. She also specifically acknowledged the vital role played by the spouses and families of these soldiers, whose support was crucial to their successful careers.

Brig. Gen. John Mango Baraza, Chief of Staff-SFC, represented the SFC Commander and congratulated the retirees. He highlighted their contributions to national security, including military operations, VVIP protection, peace support missions, and other strategic assignments. Brig. Gen. Baraza recognized the hardships many endured, such as extended periods away from family and working in challenging environments.

He encouraged the departing personnel to embrace civilian life with optimism, utilizing their acquired skills and experience productively while upholding the discipline and integrity instilled during their military service. Brig. Gen. Baraza also reassured them of the UPDF’s continued commitment to veteran welfare.

Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Capt. Boaz Barigye Kazinduki expressed gratitude to the UPDF and SFC leadership for the guidance and opportunities provided throughout their service, as well as appreciation for their families’ support.

The ceremony was attended by various SFC officials, including brigade commanders and directors, alongside the retirees, their families, and relatives.
