Tragedy struck early Friday morning as two staff members of Next Media Services, identified as producer Badru Kasirye and content creator Isaac Ndamagye, died instantly in a severe road accident. A third colleague, Brian Ssemanda, also known as Makona, sustained critical injuries and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kisubi Hospital.

The fatal crash took place around 2:00 a.m. near the Stabex fuel station in Namulanda, along the busy Kampala-Entebbe Road. According to traffic police, preliminary investigations suggest the driver of a Toyota Hilux, heading from Entebbe towards Kampala, lost control and veered into the opposite lane, leading to a direct collision with an oncoming Toyota Allex.

Police confirmed that Kasirye and Ndamagye passed away at the scene. Ssemanda and the driver of the Hilux were rescued and transported to Kisubi Hospital for urgent medical attention. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Mulago for post-mortem examinations.

Next Media Services has confirmed the loss of their employees and stated that management is in close communication with the medical team attending to Ssemanda. The company has requested privacy for the grieving families and for Ssemanda during his recovery.

This incident underscores the persistent danger of road accidents in Uganda. Recent statistics from the 2025 Uganda Police Annual Crime Report indicate that the nation recorded over 26,000 road crashes, with nearly 5,000 proving fatal and claiming more than 5,300 lives in that year alone.

Further details surrounding the exact cause of the crash are still under investigation by the police, who have extended their condolences to the affected families. This incident follows another major crash on the Kampala-Masaka Highway just days prior, which resulted in numerous fatalities.
