Tragedy struck early Friday morning on Entebbe Road when a head-on collision claimed the lives of two Next Media Services staff members. Producer Badru Kasirye and content creator Isaac Ndamagye were pronounced dead at the scene following the incident, which occurred around 2:00 AM near the Stabex fuel station in Namulanda.

Their colleague, Brian “Makona” Ssemanda, a presenter with Sanyuka TV, sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving intensive care. The crash involved a Toyota Allex carrying the Next Media staff and a Toyota Hilux pickup.

According to traffic police, preliminary investigations suggest the Toyota Hilux was traveling from Entebbe towards Kampala when its driver allegedly lost control. The vehicle reportedly veered into the opposite lane, directly colliding with the oncoming Toyota Allex.

Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura stated that the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Further details will be released upon the conclusion of the police inquiry. The driver of the Hilux and their condition have not been disclosed.

The loss has sent shockwaves through the media fraternity and beyond. Victoria University Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga expressed his deep sorrow, calling the deaths “heartbreaking news.” He extended condolences to the families and colleagues of Kasirye and Ndamagye, while offering prayers for Ssemanda’s recovery.

Badru Kasirye is scheduled to be laid to rest this afternoon at 4:00 PM in Bunamwaya, Mu Ngobe. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers on Uganda’s roads.
