Tragic Accident Claims Two Next Media Staff, Third Critically Injured

Tragedy struck early Friday morning as a road crash along Entebbe Road claimed the lives of two staff members from Next Media Services. Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye were fatally injured in the incident.

Another colleague, identified as Brian Ssemanda, also known as Makona, sustained severe injuries and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kisubi Hospital. Next Media Services has confirmed they are in close communication with the hospital and will provide updates on Ssemanda’s condition.

Preliminary police reports indicate the collision occurred around 2:00 AM near the Stabex fuel station in Namulanda. A Toyota Hilux, traveling from Entebbe towards Kampala, reportedly lost control and veered into the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming Toyota Allex.

Two individuals died at the scene, while two others, including the driver of the Hilux, were transported to Kisubi Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the City Mortuary for postmortem examinations.

Traffic police spokesperson Michael Kananura stated that the exact cause and circumstances of the crash are still under investigation. The media house has requested privacy for the families of the deceased and for Brian Ssemanda during his recovery.

This incident follows another fatal crash on the Kampala-Masaka highway earlier in the week, highlighting the ongoing road safety challenges in Uganda, which registers thousands of crashes annually. Speeding, reckless driving, and mechanical faults are frequently cited as primary causes.
