TikToker remanded for Shs7 billion theft claims against NRM official

Abdallah Bogere, known online as “True Leader,” appeared before Chief Magistrate Ritah Neumbe Kidasa on Friday, denying a charge of sending false distress signals. The prosecution alleges that between August 3 and 4, 2026, Bogere and others transmitted false information via TikTok, claiming they had stolen Shs7 billion from Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, who heads the Office of the National Chairman (ONC).
The state, represented by Chief State Attorney Joan Keko, informed the court that police investigations are nearing completion and requested an adjournment to present a final update. Bogere’s lawyer, Ms. Lydia Nakimpi, immediately moved to apply for bail, presenting three sureties: Aisha Bahati, a Kampala Central Woman Councillor and the accused’s in-law; Zebia Juuko Lwantale, a businesswoman and landlord; and Bogere’s wife, Farihah Namayanja.
Bogere identified himself as a social media content creator working with Senior Presidential Advisor Peace Mugamba. However, the state objected to an immediate bail hearing, citing the need to conduct background checks on the sureties and the accused. The prosecution requested time to verify the submitted details, including Local Council letters and business addresses.
Chief Magistrate Kidasa ordered Bogere to be remanded until August 17, 2026. On this date, the prosecution is expected to respond to the bail application after completing the verification of the sureties’ credentials.
