TikTok star Sydney Towle dies at 26 after sharing cancer battle online

Social media influencer Sydney Towle, widely known for sharing her journey with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, has died at the age of 26. Her family confirmed her passing on Thursday, citing complications from bile duct cancer that had metastasized throughout her body.

Towle, who had amassed over a million followers on TikTok and more than 200,000 on Instagram, spent the last three years candidly sharing her experiences, including chemotherapy treatments, the emotional highs and lows, and her daily life. Her family expressed immense pride in her fight and her commitment to educating others about rare cancers and encouraging self-advocacy.

Earlier this year, Towle was moved to hospice care. In May, she shared videos from the hospital, revealing that her oncologist had recommended end-of-life care, a path she stated she would not accept, opting instead to seek a new specialist. Despite the grim prognosis, Towle maintained a spirit of optimism and a passion for living, often posting videos of herself dancing and enjoying time with friends.

She recently achieved a personal goal by modeling in a swimsuit show at Miami Swim Week. Throughout her journey, Towle embraced her body, including the visible signs of her treatment like her hepatic artery pump, finding resilience and beauty in her scars. She often encouraged her followers to cherish life, reminding them that “dreams only end when you allow them to.”
