Veteran talent manager Ray Pan has announced a temporary hiatus from managing artists to concentrate on his burgeoning restaurant business. Pan, who has been instrumental in the careers of several Ugandan musicians such as Laika Music, Faymous, Irene Kayemba, and the popular duo Kataleya & Kandle, revealed his decision in a recent interview.
He explained that despite significant investments of both time and capital into the music scene, the financial returns have not met his expectations. This has prompted him to shift his strategic focus and energy towards nurturing his restaurant, Mahali Restaurant, located in Ntinda.
Pan emphasized that this move is not a permanent departure from artist management but rather a strategic redirection. He expressed optimism about potentially returning to the music industry in the future, contingent on future opportunities and market conditions.
This announcement follows closely on the heels of Kataleya & Kandle confirming their exit from Ray Pan Management earlier this year. The duo acknowledged Pan’s contributions to their careers and extended their best wishes for his future pursuits.
For the present, Ray Pan’s primary objective is the growth and development of Mahali Restaurant, marking a new chapter in his entrepreneurial journey. His decision highlights the challenges and rewards of navigating the multifaceted entertainment and hospitality sectors.
