UPDF Highlights Teso Security Stability Amidst Brigade Command Changes

The UPDF’s 3 Infantry Division has announced that security in Kapelebyong District and the broader Teso region remains robust. This assessment coincided with the official handover of command for the 1 Usalama Brigade and the 403 Brigade.

At the 1 Usalama Brigade, Colonel Charles Mukasa Kayemba took over command from Colonel Adnan Kaale Seiko. Colonel Adnan noted that the prevailing peace has fostered a positive environment for socio-economic development, attributing this stability to strong cooperation between the UPDF, local leaders, and the community.

Major General Wilberforce Sserunkuma Karate, Commander of the 3 Infantry Division, presided over the ceremony. He commended Colonel Adnan for his service and urged the incoming commanders and soldiers to prioritize discipline, unity, and cooperation with civilians, emphasizing these as crucial for fulfilling the UPDF’s mandate.

Colonel Kayemba pledged to build upon the existing successes, strengthen civil-military relations, and ensure the brigade’s readiness to address any security challenges. He stated, “I will build on the existing achievements, strengthen our relationship with the communities and ensure the brigade remains mission-ready in serving the people.”

In a separate event, Lieutenant Colonel William Achungwire assumed command of the 403 Brigade from Lieutenant Colonel M.S. Taika. This change of leadership, part of routine UPDF transitions, is intended to ensure continued operational effectiveness.

These command changes underscore the UPDF’s commitment to maintaining security and fostering positive relationships with the communities they serve, with attendance from local leaders and residents at the ceremonies highlighting the importance of civil-military partnership.
