Search Underway for Missing Boda Rider After Fertilizer Truck Overturns in Kabale

A desperate search is underway for a boda boda rider who disappeared following a serious accident in Kabale District on Thursday. A Fuso truck, laden with fertilizer, overturned at the notorious Kyanamira Corner, a location local leaders have identified as a significant accident black spot.

Preliminary reports suggest the truck may have collided with the motorcyclist before veering off the road and overturning. This has led to fears that the rider could be trapped beneath the wreckage. As of Thursday evening, the rider had not been located, and official confirmation of the exact circumstances surrounding the disappearance is still pending.

Security personnel and concerned residents have gathered at the scene, working together to establish the cause of the crash and to find the missing individual. Joshua Musinguzi, the LCV Councillor for Kyanamira Sub-county, highlighted the persistent danger of Kyanamira Corner, noting that it has been the site of numerous severe accidents in recent months.

“This corner has become a major black spot. We continue to witness serious accidents here, and urgent measures are needed to improve road safety before more lives are lost,” Musinguzi stated, appealing for interventions like speed bumps, better signage, and other safety enhancements.

The incident occurred at Kyanamira Trading Centre in Ndorwa East County. Police had not issued an official statement by the time of publication, and the precise cause of the crash remains undetermined. This event underscores ongoing concerns about road safety across Uganda, particularly concerning heavy commercial vehicles.
