The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary Caucus will now convene at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort Hotel, a decision that vacates the Kololo Independence Grounds for a concert by popular musician Ray G. The shift was announced by Government Chief Whip Dr. Ruth Aceng.
Dr. Aceng stated that the caucus needed a larger venue to accommodate all NRM and NRM-leaning Independent Members of Parliament. President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the NRM National Chairperson, is expected to address the legislators at the meeting.
The relocation ensures adequate space for comfortable seating, conducive interaction among members, and room for planned activities, including entertainment. The meeting is crucial for mobilizing MPs ahead of significant government business and party activities in Parliament.
This development means that Ray G, a celebrated musician from the Ankole region known for his “heritage music,” can now hold his concert at the Kololo ceremonial grounds without a scheduling conflict. Ray G has gained considerable fame with sold-out concerts in Kampala, including a significant performance at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
The NRM Caucus meeting is slated to begin at midday, with President Museveni’s address anticipated to cover government programs, party discipline, and parliamentary strategy. Security has been enhanced at the Munyonyo venue in anticipation of the gathering.
The NRM Parliamentary Caucus serves as a vital forum for the ruling party to engage with its legislators and coordinate its parliamentary efforts.
