Lil Pazo: Ugandan Artists Not Earning Big from YouTube

Musician Lil Pazo has publicly stated that the idea of Ugandan artists earning significant amounts of money from YouTube is largely a misconception. He argues that while the platform can enhance an artist’s visibility and popularity, the actual financial returns from YouTube views are minimal for most local musicians.

“There is no Ugandan musician earning huge money on YouTube. It’s there for showbiz. The money you get from it is very little. It cannot sustain a career,” Lil Pazo asserted in a recent television interview. He advised fellow artists against considering YouTube as their primary revenue stream, highlighting that the earnings it provides are modest when compared to other established income channels.

The singer stressed that traditional avenues, particularly live performances and concerts, remain the most significant source of income for the majority of Ugandan artists. He encouraged musicians to prioritize securing more performance opportunities instead of solely focusing on accumulating YouTube views.

Lil Pazo’s comments come amid a growing discussion among Ugandan artists regarding the actual financial benefits derived from digital music platforms and streaming services. Many artists have expressed skepticism about the extent to which these platforms contribute to their overall income, with Lil Pazo’s perspective adding a critical voice to the ongoing debate.
