Kikuube District Council Approves Staff Secondment to Access UCMID Funds

The Kikuube District Council has given the green light to a motion that will see staff seconded, a move vital for the district to qualify for the Uganda Cities and Municipal Infrastructure Development Programme (UCMID). This decision was put forth by Opio Vincent, the Leader of Government Business and District Vice Chairperson, and received strong backing from Edwin Tumwesigye, the Secretary for Finance, Planning, and Administration.

Councillors present were in full support, recognizing the secondment as a pivotal step towards securing essential development funds. They believe this action will pave the way for much-needed infrastructure enhancements within Kikuube.

District Speaker Deo Karubanga praised the council’s decision, highlighting it as a clear sign of their dedication to fostering development and ensuring efficient service delivery for the residents. He encouraged continued focus on initiatives that will directly benefit the community’s well-being.

Kikuube District Chairperson Paddy Kissembo affirmed the leadership’s commitment to equitable service delivery. He assured the public that the benefits of the UCMID program would be extended to communities throughout the district.

The UCMID program aims to bolster infrastructure development in urban centers, with adequate staffing being a key prerequisite for funding eligibility. The council has committed to expediting the secondment process to ensure Kikuube meets all criteria and capitalizes on the opportunities offered by the program.
