Rotary Uganda has rolled out its “Tourism Ambassadors Programme,” a new initiative designed to harness the energy and global reach of young Ugandans. The program aims to equip these ambassadors with the tools and opportunities to market Uganda’s rich tourism offerings on an international scale.
This initiative is a collaborative effort between Rotary Uganda’s District 1293 and District 9214. Leaders within Rotary believe that the nation’s youth possess the inherent creativity, dynamism, and connections necessary to effectively showcase Uganda’s stunning natural landscapes, vibrant culture, and historical heritage to the world.
“Young people have the energy, creativity, and influence to showcase Uganda to the world. We encourage them to become proud ambassadors of our country’s tourism potential,” stated Rotary officials. The program aligns with Rotary’s Youth Exchange framework, enabling selected ambassadors to travel abroad. During their exchanges, they will not only promote Uganda’s tourism but also highlight the humanitarian and community service efforts of Rotary International.
Through cultural exchanges, engaging storytelling, and strategic promotion of key attractions like wildlife, national parks, and cultural heritage sites, the Tourism Ambassadors will connect with international audiences. The overarching goal is to increase global awareness of Uganda’s tourism potential, solidify the country’s international image, and foster greater cross-cultural understanding.
Tourism is a significant source of foreign exchange for Uganda. By involving young people more directly in promotional efforts, stakeholders anticipate an enhanced visibility for Uganda in the highly competitive global travel market. This program is part of a broader national effort to market Uganda internationally through innovative partnerships and youth-led initiatives, aiming to unlock the sector’s full potential.
