Chaos briefly disrupted an anti-corruption rally in Masaka City on Monday night when a woman confronted State Minister Justine Nameere. The rally, organized by the Ministry of Local Government, was aimed at addressing public grievances regarding corruption and service delivery.

During the open forum, a distressed woman stepped forward, accusing Minister Nameere of reneging on a payment of UGX 150 million. The woman alleged that she had supplied coffee seedlings to the minister and other senior NRM officials in Masaka but had not received compensation despite numerous attempts to claim her dues.

She further stated that her efforts to contact Minister Nameere directly, including phone calls, had been met with silence. This public accusation created a stir among the attendees who had gathered to voice their own complaints.

Minister Nameere, however, refuted the allegations, asserting that she had not defrauded the woman. In an effort to de-escalate the situation, Minister Balaam Barugahara, who was also present, assured the complainant that the matter would be investigated. He committed to seeking financial assistance from President Yoweri Museveni to facilitate the payment.

The incident momentarily halted the proceedings of the anti-corruption rally, eliciting varied reactions from the residents who had assembled to seek redress for their own issues.
