Journalist Solomon Serwanjja Clinches Village Chairmanship by a Sole Vote

The race for Bamutakudde village chairperson in Mukono concluded with a nail-biting finish, as journalist Solomon Serwanjja emerged victorious by a single vote over his closest contender.

Official results revealed Serwanjja garnered 106 votes, a slim lead against National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Lule Badru, who received 105 votes. This razor-thin margin highlights how critical each individual vote was in determining the outcome of the keenly contested election.

The election saw significant engagement from the Mukoho community, eager to choose a leader to oversee local governance and champion development initiatives.

However, the electoral process was not without its challenges. Voting was momentarily halted due to accusations that one candidate had brought in non-resident relatives to participate in the polls. This caused some tension at the polling station, although proceedings eventually resumed without further major incident.

As the votes were tallied, electoral officials had not yet released any official findings regarding the allegations of irregularities. Nevertheless, Serwanjja was ultimately declared the winner, marking the end of a closely fought electoral battle that mirrored the divided sentiment among the village’s electorate.

Serwanjja now steps into the leadership role, with the expectations of Bamutakudde residents resting on his shoulders to address pressing local concerns and enhance public services.
