Busoga Bishop Urges Steadfast Faith, HTTC Principal Highlights College's Role

During a celebratory luncheon for St. James Church in Jinja, the Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Rt. Rev. Prof. Grace Lubaale, delivered a message of resilience to the congregation. He urged faithful to emulate the tenacity of Saint James, emphasizing that challenges are an inherent part of life.

Bishop Lubaale advised that maintaining a calm demeanor is crucial when facing adversity. “Challenges will always be there, but the solution is to calm down,” he stated, noting this as his consistent counsel to those who bring their troubles to him.

The event, hosted by the Hotel and Tourism Training College (HTTC), coincided with the commemoration of St. James Day. Richard Kawere, the Principal of HTTC, welcomed the guests and took the opportunity to discuss the historical significance of the college’s Crested Crane Hotel. He mentioned that the hotel has been a venue for every Busoga Diocese Bishop over the years and that a museum is being established to preserve memories of the original structure.

Kawere also provided an overview of HTTC’s current student body, which numbers approximately 1,500, engaged in conventional, apprenticeship, and short-course programs. He stressed the importance of education for societal progress and highlighted the college’s commitment to supporting students through scholarships, including the Kyabazinga Community Scholarship and sports scholarships.

St. James Day, observed annually on July 25, honors Saint James the Great, one of Jesus Christ’s apostles, marking the traditional date of his martyrdom.
