Tororo Rally Heralds Political Unity and Development Focus

A recent thanksgiving ceremony for West Budama North East Member of Parliament, Richard Owere Machika, in Tororo District has been lauded as a significant step towards fostering political unity within the region. The event, held at Paya Primary School playground, attracted a notable turnout of constituents and a wide array of political, religious, and cultural leaders, including nearly all Members of Parliament from the Bukedi sub-region.

Presided over by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Jacob Markson Oboth-Oboth, the gathering transcended a mere celebration of Machika’s election victory. It served as a vital platform to introduce and support crucial community initiatives. A key highlight was the unveiling of a new ambulance, intended to bolster emergency medical services within the constituency.

Furthermore, the rally successfully raised over Shs100 million. These funds are earmarked for educational programs in an area known for its historically poor academic performance. MP Machika outlined plans to utilize the money for school feeding programs, scholarships for disadvantaged students, and the provision of essential learning materials.

Leaders present, including State Minister for Works Julius Maganda and Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Sanjay Tanna, urged for a collective focus on development over political rivalries. They stressed the importance of collaboration to address the district’s challenges and deliver services to the populace, with Speaker Oboth-Oboth calling for an end to past divisions.

State Minister for Public Service Lydia Wanyoto underscored the transformative potential of investments in healthcare and education for community development and productivity.
