Masaka City Unveils Youth Climate Fund, Offering Grants Up to Shs18 Million

Young innovators in Masaka City are set to benefit from a new climate action fund, offering grants ranging from Shs3 million to Shs18 million. The Masaka City Bloomberg Youth Climate Fund aims to empower individuals aged 15 to 24 to develop and implement projects focused on environmental conservation and climate change mitigation within the city.

The initiative was officially launched by Masaka City Mayor Florence Namayanja Mukasa at Timothy Girls High School. The program is a facet of the global Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Action Fund, which supports cities actively engaged in climate change solutions. Masaka is notably the sole Ugandan city chosen for this significant funding.

Mayor Namayanja urged the youth to leverage this opportunity by presenting practical and creative solutions to the environmental issues plaguing Masaka.
