King's College Budo Student Secures Bronze at Global Math Competition in Mongolia

Sira Nsibirwa, representing Uganda, clinched a bronze medal at the 2026 International Mathematics Competition (IMC) held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Nsibirwa’s achievement places Uganda on the global academic map, showcasing the talent of young Ugandan mathematicians.

Nsibirwa was among over 1,000 bright minds from 46 countries who competed. King’s College Budo saw further success with Talindeka Kiguba Jethro earning a Merit Award for his strong performance in the challenging contest.

Uganda’s delegation to the IMC was composed of 13 students from various leading schools, including Gayaza High School, Uganda Martyrs Secondary School Namugongo, Ndejje Senior Secondary School, and St. Mary’s College Kisubi. These students qualified for the international stage by excelling in national competitions like the Uganda Maths Contest and the Uganda National Science Olympiad.

The International Mathematics Competition serves as a platform for young mathematicians worldwide to hone their analytical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving capabilities. This marks another significant international accolade for King’s College Budo this year, following Ian Karlton Muyimba’s historic bronze medal win at the International Public Speaking Competition in London.

These successes underscore King’s College Budo’s commitment to fostering excellence in STEM and communication, reinforcing its status as a premier educational institution in Uganda.
