Hoima District is experiencing notable progress across several critical sectors, according to a recent report presented by District Chairperson Uthuman Mugisha Mubaraka. During a district council session, Mubaraka outlined advancements in health services, road infrastructure, education, and the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM).

A substantial improvement has been observed in the district’s road network. Currently, 68 percent of Hoima’s 593-kilometer road network is deemed motorable. This network comprises 374.3 kilometers of earth roads and 102 kilometers of gravel roads. The improved connectivity is expected to enhance access to essential services for residents.

The Parish Development Model has also seen considerable traction, with the district receiving Shs23 billion since its inception. This funding has directly benefited approximately 22,499 residents through various livelihood enhancement programs.

In the health sector, construction is progressing at Buseruka Health Centre IV. This upgrade is anticipated to significantly boost the quality and accessibility of healthcare services within the district, marking a crucial step towards better health outcomes.

Despite these successes, the district faces challenges in public education. Mubaraka pointed out a growing need for increased government intervention to address staffing shortages in public schools. He emphasized that the rising student population necessitates a corresponding increase in teacher recruitment and investments in school infrastructure to maintain educational quality.

Mubaraka concluded by urging continued collaboration among all stakeholders to foster sustainable development and enhance service delivery for the benefit of Hoima District’s population.
