The upcoming Local Council I (LC I) elections present an opportunity for residents of Bukomansimbi South to shape their local governance, and Member of Parliament Hassan Mukiibi Sserunjogi is urging a focus on capability over political ties.
During a community meeting in Kamaanda Village, Kibinge Sub-county, Sserunjogi emphasized that effective grassroots leadership is crucial for driving development. He noted that villages like Kamaanda have experienced a lag in progress, with a significant concern being the lack of access to electricity.
“Do not base your vote on political parties. Elect leaders who have the ability, commitment and willingness to serve your community. Development should come before politics,” Sserunjogi stated, encouraging constituents to evaluate candidates on their potential to deliver services.
The MP endorsed several candidates across different villages, expressing confidence that they would collaborate with him to enhance service delivery within Bukomansimbi South. He specifically voiced support for NRM candidate Nyanja in Kamaanda Village, NUP candidate Mpinde in Makukuulu Village, and Mukoreya in Kalubaya Village, believing each possesses the necessary capacity to serve effectively.
Sserunjogi pledged to work closely with newly elected village leaders to ensure government programs and development projects reach the grassroots. He highlighted ongoing projects within the constituency, including the construction of Kisojjo Health Centre and the expansion of electricity to Kassebwera Parish, as evidence of his commitment to the area’s transformation.
The MP’s visit is part of a broader outreach initiative to engage with constituents, assess local needs, and encourage active participation in the electoral process. Residents shared concerns about infrastructure deficits and service delivery challenges, which Sserunjogi intends to address through collaborative efforts with local leadership.
