Court proceedings have revealed unsettling details surrounding the alleged murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez by singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke. Texts presented during a hearing indicate the teenager had been pregnant and had an abortion before her death.

Prosecutors shared exchanges from June 2024 where Celeste, then 13, texted Burke about a previous abortion attempt, asking, “What [if] the first abortion didn’t work?” Burke, who was 19 at the time, reportedly responded by inquiring if the pregnancy was his, to which Celeste confirmed, “of course its yours David.”

Further texts from January 2024 show Burke apologizing to Celeste for “putting her through this,” with her responding that neither of them were “capable of watching and taking care of the baby” and that it was “for the best.”

Prosecutors allege Burke killed Celeste after she threatened to expose his abuse of a minor and damage his career. Burke has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to charges of murder and sexual abuse. Evidence presented includes iCloud data from Burke’s iPhone, showing communications dating back to August 2022 when Celeste was 11 and Burke was 17. The prosecution also presented photos from the device depicting the teenager during the alleged abuse.

The singer, known for his TikTok hits, was on tour when Celeste’s body was found in his Tesla in September 2025, the day after she would have turned 15. He faces charges including murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and mutilation of remains. Testimony in the pre-trial hearing is ongoing.
