General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Uganda, has arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, for an official visit aimed at enhancing defence cooperation and solidifying military ties between the two nations.

This strategic engagement is set to involve in-depth discussions with senior officials within the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF). It is also anticipated that General Muhoozi will hold meetings with President Paul Kagame, focusing on areas of mutual interest and shared strategic objectives.

The talks are expected to explore avenues for deepening military collaboration and identifying further opportunities for cooperation, reflecting a continued dedication from both Uganda and Rwanda to strengthen their bilateral defence relationship.

This visit marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to foster closer ties between the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) and the RDF. General Muhoozi was warmly received by Lieutenant General Mubarakh Muganga, the Chief of Defence Staff of the RDF, along with Major General Willy Rwagasana, Commander of the Republican Guard, and Colonel Ezekeil Matsiko, Uganda’s Defence Attaché to Rwanda.

The initiative underscores the continuous dialogue and growing cooperation between the military leaderships of both neighbouring countries, as they work together on common security interests.
