EACOP and Buganda Kingdom Launch Kabaka Daudi Chwa II Stadium Project in Masaka

EACOP Limited and Buganda Kingdom have joined forces to construct the Kabaka Daudi Chwa II EACOP Stadium in Buddu County, Masaka City. This initiative represents a significant step towards fostering youth development and enhancing the well-being of communities along the East African Crude Oil Pipeline’s route.

The new state-of-the-art sports facility will be built on 10 acres of land provided by the Buganda Kingdom, with EACOP offering financial backing for its development. The stadium is envisioned as a hub for nurturing young sporting talent, promoting healthy lifestyles, and serving as a focal point for community engagement and unity.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, EACOP Deputy Managing Director JB Habumugisha emphasized the company’s dedication to sustainable development in its operational areas. “This groundbreaking ceremony reflects our long-term commitment to advancing sustainability and socio-economic development,” Habumugisha stated, adding that supporting the sports centre is an investment in initiatives that will yield lasting value.

Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga lauded the partnership, highlighting its importance for the kingdom’s youth. “The Kingdom cherishes collaborations that address critical needs such as youth empowerment,” Mayiga remarked, expressing enthusiasm for working with EACOP to build a legacy of opportunity and growth for the people.

The construction of the stadium underscores a shared commitment between EACOP and Buganda Kingdom to drive community transformation and sustainable development in Masaka and its environs. The EACOP project spans 296 kilometers across Uganda, impacting 10 districts, seven of which are within the Buganda Kingdom. This stadium is poised to become a lasting symbol of this collaboration, supporting youth and contributing to the region’s long-term socio-economic progress.
