Namyalo Commends Single Mother's Progress After ONC Intervention

Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, the Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), has expressed her satisfaction with the remarkable progress of Babra Kyomugisha, a single mother who recently received substantial support. The ONC, after learning of Kyomugisha’s challenging circumstances, provided her with startup capital for a business, a new place to live, and essential household goods.

Namyalo revisited Kyomugisha in Katwe to personally assess her well-being and the growth of the small enterprise funded by the ONC. The two women’s paths first crossed during the ongoing verification of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) voter registers for the forthcoming Local Council I (LC I) elections.

Their initial meeting occurred shortly after a video circulating on social media exposed the dire living conditions Kyomugisha and her children endured. During their tearful first encounter, Kyomugisha detailed her family’s struggles, including a lack of consistent income, frequent hunger, and the immense difficulty in affording school fees for her children.

Moved by her plight, Namyalo swiftly provided Kyomugisha with the necessary funds to establish a business, aiming for financial independence. Furthermore, after witnessing the family’s makeshift shelter, Namyalo arranged for them to move into a self-contained house, covering a full year’s rent. The family also received vital items such as a mattress, blankets, food, and other household necessities.

“Our mission is not only to respond to people’s immediate needs but to empower them to stand on their own. Seeing Kyomugisha making progress gives us hope that with the right support, many struggling families can rebuild their lives with dignity,” Namyalo stated during her follow-up visit, encouraging Kyomugisha’s continued dedication to her business.

An emotional Kyomugisha expressed profound gratitude, stating that Namyalo had restored her hope and dignity, providing her family with a new beginning. The ONC reiterated that such interventions align with its ongoing commitment to assisting vulnerable Ugandans through humanitarian aid, economic empowerment, and sustainable livelihood programs.
