Horrific Fire Claims 10 Family Members in Lima

A pre-dawn fire in the La Victoria district of Lima, Peru, has resulted in the deaths of ten individuals from a single family. The blaze, which erupted around 3:00 AM local time, engulfed the residence, trapping 17 family members inside. While seven managed to escape, ten tragically perished.

The victims included five children, aged between three and 15, and four adults, whose ages ranged from 29 to 72, with a tenth victim’s age not specified. Their bodies were reportedly burned beyond recognition.

Authorities are exploring the possibility that the fire was intentionally set. Local media reports suggest the family, involved in mattress manufacturing and electric motorcycle sales, had been subjected to threats and extortion demands. Neighbors reported seeing unknown individuals set fire to motorcycles parked outside the home, with the flames quickly spreading through flammable materials used in mattress production.

The Peruvian National Police expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating that the entire nation mourns the loss. “Today, all of Peru falls silent in the face of a tragedy that plunges our nation into mourning,” read a statement from the National Police.
