The Rotary Club of Muyenga Forest Hills has welcomed Rtn. Carolyne Atuhairwe as its new president, marking a significant transition for the organization.

Atuhairwe officially took the helm on Monday, July 14, 2026, during a ceremony attended by fellow Rotarians, partners, and community stakeholders. The outgoing president, Rtn. Daniel Damulira, lauded the club members, known as “Forest Hillers,” for their dedication and resilience, encouraging them to build upon the club’s established foundation.

In her inaugural address, President Atuhairwe emphasized the importance of embedding Rotary’s core motto, ‘Service Above Self,’ into daily actions. She stated, “Service Above Self is more than a motto. It is a way of life. True leadership is found in lifting others up, and the greatest reward comes from making a difference in someone else’s life.”

She urged Rotarians to translate their fellowship into tangible service by engaging in volunteerism, mentoring young people, supporting charitable projects, and leveraging their professional expertise to tackle community challenges. “Let us work together with compassion, integrity and fellowship to transform lives and strengthen our communities. Every act of service matters,” Atuhairwe encouraged.

Edith Tusuubira, Commissioner at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and the chief guest, commended the club’s contributions to areas such as education, water access, and community empowerment. Tusuubira expressed confidence in Atuhairwe’s vision and leadership qualities, noting her ability to inspire and guide the club toward greater impact. “Carol does not just see the Rotary Club of Muyenga Forest Hills as it is today; she sees what it can become,” Tusuubira remarked.

However, Tusuubira also stressed the necessity of collective effort, stating, “Even a President with the capacity of Carol cannot do this alone. The capacity of a President is often unlocked by the commitment of the members.” She called on board members and senior Rotarians to offer their full support.

Under Atuhairwe’s presidency, the club plans to focus on sustainable development, youth engagement, and humanitarian initiatives. Atuhairwe concluded by rallying members to unite in furthering Rotary’s mission, urging, “Together, let us live Service Above Self.”
