West Nile Leaders Demand Completion of Gen. Moses Ali's Projects

Following the passing of veteran politician and former Second Deputy Prime Minister Gen (Rtd) Moses Ali, leaders from the West Nile region have convened to discuss his legacy. A special council sitting was held at Paridi Stadium in Adjumani, where local government officials called upon the Ugandan government to ensure the completion of key development initiatives championed by the late General.
Prominent among these demands is the realization of the proposed Laropi Bridge and the establishment of municipalities in Moyo, Adjumani, and Yumbe. Leaders highlighted that the region continues to grapple with significant infrastructure deficits, necessitating increased government investment in roads, public services, and facilities.
Beyond infrastructure, the leaders also called for greater representation of West Nile individuals in senior positions within the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, acknowledging the region’s contributions to national security. They presented a joint memorandum detailing eight critical concerns affecting service delivery and development across West Nile.
Adjumani District Council Speaker Moses Rokani Simba lauded Gen. Ali as a dedicated figure whose contributions deserved preservation. Vice President Jessica Alupo assured the leaders that their concerns would be presented to President Museveni, noting that some projects, like the Laropi Bridge and the Laropi-Moyo-Afoji road, were already receiving government attention. The leaders maintain that finalizing these projects would serve as a fitting tribute to Gen. Ali’s extensive service to the nation.
