Gen. Moses Ali Honored with Official Burial in Adjumani

The nation has marked the solemn occasion of laying to rest the esteemed Gen. (Rtd.) Moses Ali, a veteran statesman and former First Deputy Prime Minister. His official burial, held in Adjumani District, was attended by a multitude of mourners, including high-ranking government officials, religious leaders, and citizens from across the West Nile region and beyond.

During the ceremony, Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, conveyed profound gratitude to Ugandans for their collective respect and support in providing Gen. Ali with a dignified send-off. She specifically acknowledged President Museveni’s support for the family and for granting the late General an official burial, as well as Parliament’s special tribute sitting.

Babalanda highlighted the impactful tributes from Cabinet ministers and Members of Parliament, noting how they underscored Gen. Ali’s legacy of patriotism, humility, and selfless service to Uganda. She also extended appreciation to the people of West Nile for nurturing and sharing such an “exceptional leader” with the country, referring to him as their “Lion Son.”

Joining the Muslim community and the nation in mourning, Babalanda described Gen. Ali as a “peacemaker, statesman, and a tireless champion of development.” She urged Ugandans to embody the enduring values Gen. Ali championed, emphasizing unity, hard work, and dedicated service to the country as the highest tribute.

The ceremony, held at Gen. Ali’s ancestral home in Abiri Chako Village, Adjumani District, was a testament to his significant contributions and the deep affection he garnered throughout his life. The Vice President, several Cabinet ministers, MPs, and religious leaders were present to pay their final respects.
