VP Alupo Honors Gen. Moses Ali's Enduring National Service and Mentorship

Vice President Jessica Alupo has commemorated the life and service of the late Gen. Moses Ali, remembering him as a devoted nationalist whose multi-decade contributions were instrumental in Uganda’s political, social, and economic development. Gen. Ali, who passed away on July 18, 2026, at the age of 87, was honored with an official burial by President Yoweri Museveni, acknowledging his extensive career.

During a parliamentary tribute session, Alupo reflected on Gen. Ali’s multifaceted role as a freedom fighter, mentor, and public servant. She noted his profound influence on numerous leaders, including herself, highlighting his humorous yet impactful communication style. The Vice President extended condolences to the President, Parliament, the Muslim community, the people of Adjumani, and the nation at large.

Alupo emphasized that Gen. Ali’s impact spanned across politics, culture, religion, education, and sports. She also pointed to his experience as a farmer, underscoring the significance of investing in sectors like agriculture, industry, services, and ICT for economic transformation.

Describing him as a disciplined military officer who deeply understood leadership and public service, Alupo remarked, “He was a timekeeper and surely we shall miss him in Cabinet.”

Furthermore, the Vice President recognized Gen. Ali’s advocacy for the education of Muslim girls, applauding his efforts to encourage them to pursue and complete their schooling. “He was the voice of young Muslim girls. He encouraged them to go to school and complete the school cycle,” she stated.

Gen. Moses Ali was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Adjumani District.
