Ssingo Residents Embody "Bulungi Bwansi" Ahead of Kabaka's 33rd Coronation Anniversary

In anticipation of the 33rd Coronation Anniversary of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the people of Ssingo County have actively engaged in the Buganda Kingdom’s “Bulungi Bwansi” (Community Service) initiative. This extensive campaign saw residents, Kingdom officials, and local leaders unite in Ssabagabo Sub-county, Ssekanyonyi, to promote hygiene and communal well-being.

The “Bulungi Bwansi” exercise encompassed a range of activities aimed at revitalizing the local environment. Participants diligently cleaned Ssekanyonyi Town, cleared crucial drainage channels, tidied up markets, and enhanced the cleanliness of both Ssekanyonyi Health Centre IV and the adjacent police station. Demonstrating a commitment to supporting vulnerable members of the community, essential items such as soap and sugar were donated to mothers admitted at the health facility.

Local leaders emphasized the importance of sustained cleanliness efforts. Barnabas Ssenabulya, the Gombolola Chief of Ssabagabo Ssekanyonyi, urged residents to adopt cleanliness as a daily practice, not just an occasional event. He highlighted that a clean environment is the cornerstone of a healthy community and praised the Kabaka’s enduring leadership in fostering development across Buganda.

Grace Nantege, Chairperson of the CBS Pewosa Association in Ssingo County, commended the Kabaka’s focus on family welfare through health and community support programs. She noted that investing in healthy families is a crucial step towards broader community development. Residents voiced their appreciation for the Kingdom’s initiatives, citing their positive impact on youth empowerment, discipline, healthcare services, and the establishment of vital community facilities.

Dr. Yawe John, Medical Superintendent at Ssekanyonyi Health Centre IV, acknowledged the significant impact of the donations, stating that such acts of kindness provide hope to patients and strengthen the collaboration between cultural institutions and public health services. The”Bulungi Bwansi” program continues to be a vital component of the Kingdom’s celebration of the Kabaka’s Coronation Anniversary, fostering widespread participation in voluntary service and community improvement.
