The government of Uganda has officially announced the burial arrangements for the late General (Rtd) Moses Ali, who passed away recently.

Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, who also chairs the National Organising Committee, shared the details of the planned ceremonies. She confirmed that special prayers were held on Sunday, July 19, in accordance with Islamic traditions at various mosques in Kampala.

President Yoweri Museveni has directed that Gen. Ali be accorded an official burial, a directive made in line with Article 99 of the 1995 Constitution. A National Organising Committee, composed of representatives from key government bodies and the bereaved family, was formed to oversee the arrangements.

The official programme commenced on Monday, July 20, with a Cabinet tribute at State House, followed by a vigil at Gen. Ali’s residence in Naguru.

On Tuesday, July 21, President Museveni is expected to pay his respects and officiate as Chief Mourner at a special parliamentary session. Following this, the body will be transported to Abiri Chako Village in Adjumani District for a vigil later in the day.

The final burial ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, in Adjumani. A special sitting of the West Nile Regional District Council will precede the prayers and the interment. Vice President Jessica Alupo will represent the government at the burial.

Minister Babalanda encouraged Ugandans to join in the national effort to honour General Moses Ali’s legacy and support his family during this period of grief.
