Busujju LC I Aspirants Kick Off Campaigns Amidst Calls for Accountability

Campaigns for Local Council I (LC I) chairperson positions have officially launched across Busujju Constituency in Mityana District. Aspirants are now actively canvassing for support, presenting manifestos that focus on improving essential services and addressing community needs.

Candidates have pledged to offer transparent and people-centered leadership if elected. Key priorities mentioned include the improvement of local road networks, bolstering agricultural initiatives, ensuring fair resolution of community disputes, and enhancing public health services. These promises aim to tackle long-standing challenges faced by residents at the village level.

One such candidate, Vincent Zziwa, who is vying for the LC I chairperson seat in Buluma Village, outlined his vision. Zziwa plans to mobilize residents towards socio-economic development through agriculture, community engagement, and better local infrastructure. He emphasized unity and collaboration as crucial for village progress.

Residents have voiced their expectations, urging aspiring leaders to remain impartial and avoid any abuse of power. They specifically highlighted the need for leaders who can handle domestic and land disputes equitably, without bias or personal gain, and who will actively listen to the concerns of the electorate.

Charles Rebero, the Mityana District Electoral Commission Returning Officer, has called for peaceful and lawful campaigns. He stressed the importance of adhering to electoral guidelines and warned that any activities violating the law would not be tolerated, ensuring a free, fair, and orderly electoral process.

The LC I elections are a critical component of Uganda’s local governance, with village chairpersons serving as the primary link between citizens and government bodies.

Residents are hopeful that these elections will bring forth leaders dedicated to accountability and effective service delivery, ultimately improving the welfare of their respective communities.
