Centenary Group, through its technology subsidiary Centenary Technology Services (Cente-Tech), is joining forces with MicroPay Uganda in a strategic partnership to broaden digital access to critical services. This collaboration aims to tackle existing barriers in education, healthcare, and insurance payments and access by leveraging technology.
At the core of this initiative is the goal to make these essential services more convenient, affordable, and accessible, particularly for those often overlooked by traditional financial systems. The partnership will focus on developing digital tools to simplify fee payments and financing for education, enhance the reach and ease of accessing healthcare, and streamline the management of insurance policies, premiums, and claims.
According to Professor John Ddumba Ssentamu, Chairman of Centenary Group, this venture aligns with the institution’s historical mission of extending services to the last mile. “Centenary’s story has always been about the people other institutions overlooked,” he stated, emphasizing the legacy of meaningful inclusion.
Peter Kahiigi, Chief Technology Officer at Cente-Tech, highlighted the equalizing power of technology, noting how ICT can erase geographical and income-based disadvantages. Cente-Tech will contribute its technological expertise, while Centenary Group will utilize its extensive nationwide network and customer base. MicroPay Uganda brings over 12 years of experience in digital payments and regulatory compliance as a licensed Payment Service Provider.
Dr. Aduwo Jennifer, MicroPay Uganda’s Board Chairperson, stressed that such “purposeful and visionary partnerships” are key to realizing the full benefits of financial inclusion.
The success of this collaboration will be measured not by the signing ceremony, but by the tangible impact on users’ daily lives – faster insurance claims, smoother fee payments, and improved access to healthcare. The partners envision this initiative potentially growing to support regional expansion in the future.
This partnership represents a significant step forward in utilizing technology and collaboration to promote financial inclusion and improve access to essential services across Uganda.
