Buganda Youth Council Enhances Mumyuka Maanyi Headquarters

Buganda Kingdom’s Minister for Youth, Sports, and Talent, Robert Sserwanga Ssaalongo, has officially accepted the renovated Mumyuka Maanyi Sub-county headquarters. The restoration was carried out as part of the “Youth Beautify Sub-county” initiative, led by the Buganda Youth Council.

This non-partisan body focuses on mobilizing young people to participate actively in community development projects and broader Buganda Kingdom programs. During the handover ceremony, new youth leaders representing the various parishes within Mumyuka Maanyi Sub-county were officially sworn in and commissioned by Minister Sserwanga.

Minister Sserwanga urged the youth to embrace their vital role in the Kingdom’s future, emphasizing that His Majesty the Kabaka has entrusted these initiatives to them. “Your participation is vital to the development of Buganda,” he stated, encouraging widespread engagement in all Kingdom activities.

The Minister also took the opportunity to inspect the sub-county playground located at the headquarters.

Reckon Kaggwa Muyanja, the Buganda Youth Treasurer and founder of Rejoice Paints, advised young individuals to identify and nurture their talents early. He encouraged productive use of their abilities for meaningful contributions to society. Kaggwa also appealed to Ugandans to support local businesses and products, highlighting their importance in strengthening the economy and improving livelihoods.

The “Youth Beautify Sub-county” initiative has previously been implemented in Ssaabawaali Gombe in Kyaddondo County. Organizers plan to extend the program across more areas of the Kingdom, aiming to foster youth involvement in community enhancement and the preservation of public infrastructure.
