Bukomansimbi MP Donates Water Tanks to Religious Institutions

Bukomansimbi South MP Hassan Mukiibi Sserunjogi has stepped in to address recurring water shortages by donating two substantial 10,000-litre water tanks.

The beneficiaries of this charitable act are the Maleku Church of Uganda and the Butenga Mosque, intended to improve water availability for worshippers and the wider community.

These tanks are designed to facilitate rainwater harvesting and storage, a crucial measure for mitigating the effects of dry seasons that often cause acute water scarcity in Bukomansimbi District.

During the handover ceremonies, Sserunjogi emphasized that access to clean water is a fundamental right and urged communities to adopt rainwater harvesting as a sustainable solution to water challenges exacerbated by changing weather patterns and prolonged dry spells.

“These water tanks will help harvest and store rainwater for use during periods of drought,” Sserunjogi stated. He expressed his hope that both religious institutions and their surrounding communities would benefit from these facilities for years to come.

He also called for the proper maintenance of the tanks to ensure their longevity and continued service to future generations, stressing the importance of conserving every drop of rainwater.

Leaders from both receiving institutions expressed their gratitude. Representatives from Maleku Church highlighted the critical need for water, noting that congregants often had to travel long distances for this essential resource. At Butenga Mosque, leaders thanked Sserunjogi for fulfilling a prior pledge, with one appealing for his potential appointment to a ministerial role due to his contributions to local development.

Sserunjogi indicated that these donations are part of his broader commitment to enhancing community welfare and ensuring access to essential services in Bukomansimbi South.
