Mubende MP Fulfills Shs 5 Million Pledge to Buweekula FC

The Member of Parliament for Mubende Municipality, Sumayah Nabawanuka, has made good on her Shs 5 million commitment to Buweekula FC. This financial contribution arrives at a pivotal moment, supporting the team’s readiness for their upcoming 2026 Masaza Cup fixture against Buuli, scheduled for this Sunday.

Team officials have expressed that the funds provide a much-needed boost, alleviating some of the logistical concerns that had been impacting travel and match preparations. The handover ceremony saw the legislator present the funds to Buweekula’s leadership, an event attended by team officials, supporters, and local dignitaries.

During the ceremony, MP Nabawanuka emphasized the importance of keeping promises and highlighted sports as a vital avenue for community development and youth empowerment. She commended Buweekula’s leadership for their dedication and hard work in managing the team and fostering football talent in the region.

“I believe in keeping my promises, and supporting our young people through sports is one of the ways we can contribute to the development of our communities,” Nabawanuka stated. She further encouraged the players to maintain discipline and focus, recognizing football’s potential to create opportunities.

Andrew Mukasa Ssempijja, the Kabaka’s Representative for Buweekula, lauded the MP’s gesture, noting its significant impact on the team’s activities. He also extended an invitation to other stakeholders, including business leaders and well-wishers, to rally behind Buweekula as they strive for success in the tournament.

The Masaza Cup is a prominent tournament in Uganda, showcasing county-level teams and serving as a platform for nurturing emerging football talent.
