Mbarara Courts Undergo Major Renovation to Enhance Justice Delivery

The Mbarara High Court and Chief Magistrates’ Court are set to receive a significant facelift as renovation works have officially begun. This initiative by the Judiciary aims to enhance the court’s infrastructure and create a more conducive environment for judicial officers, court staff, and the public.

The extensive, six-month project will encompass a range of improvements, including new tiling and painting, roof repairs, and a complete overhaul of the sewerage system. Additionally, the premises will benefit from landscaping and other aesthetic upgrades designed to modernize the appearance of the court facilities.

Mbarara Chief Magistrate, Moses Nabende Mushebebe, expressed his delight at the commencement of the renovations. He commended the Judiciary Administration for successfully securing the necessary funds for this much-anticipated project. Nabende highlighted that the renovations will address long-standing structural issues that have hindered efficient service delivery.

“These renovations will create a more conducive environment for the administration of justice. We are grateful to the Judiciary for responding to our needs,” Nabende stated.

While welcoming the upgrade, Nabende urged court users and the general public to exercise patience during the construction period, acknowledging that some disruptions are inevitable. He assured that court operations would continue uninterrupted, with management implementing measures to minimize inconveniences.

This upgrade is part of a larger national strategy by the Judiciary to modernize court infrastructure across Uganda, ultimately aiming to improve access to justice through better and more functional facilities.
