Kassanda Leaders Cry Foul Over Alleged Sale of Government Jobs

Concerns are mounting in Kassanda District regarding alleged corrupt practices in the hiring of public servants. District leaders and residents have voiced fears that the District Service Commission may be involved in selling government jobs, bypassing merit-based recruitment.

This alleged corruption raises serious questions about the quality of public service. District LC5 Chairperson Drake Ssemuyaba Ssembusi stated that such irregular hiring processes could lead to unqualified individuals filling crucial roles, thereby hindering the district’s performance.

“Government jobs should be awarded based on merit, qualifications and competence, not on an individual’s ability to pay money,” Ssembusi emphasized. He further noted that when recruitment is compromised, it is the ordinary citizens who bear the brunt through poor service delivery.

Ssembusi is advocating for a transparent and accountable recruitment process to ensure that competent individuals are hired. He believes this is essential for improving services in vital sectors like health, education, and local government administration.

To combat these allegations and restore faith in the hiring system, Ssembusi has urged relevant government bodies to enhance oversight of District Service Commissions nationwide.
