Finance Ministry Celebrates Outgoing Leaders, Welcomes New Team

The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development recently hosted a farewell luncheon at Serena Hotel Kampala to express gratitude to its outgoing ministers. Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury, Ramathan Ggoobi, lauded the former political heads for their dedication to Uganda’s economic advancement and fostering a collaborative environment.

Ggoobi specifically highlighted the steady leadership of former Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, whose calm demeanor and humor were instrumental in navigating complex discussions and decisions. He also praised former State Minister for Finance Henry Musasizi for his energetic approach, thorough preparation, and commitment to robust, idea-challenging engagement.

The outgoing State Minister for Microfinance, Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune, was recognized as “the people’s minister” for his efforts in connecting government policies with the realities faced by ordinary Ugandans, including farmers and small business owners. Ggoobi noted that their accessible leadership and trust in the ministry’s technical team earned them broad respect.

Looking ahead, Ggoobi welcomed the incoming ministers to the Ministry of Finance, describing it as a robust institution renowned for its professionalism and economic expertise. He pledged the full support of the ministry’s technical staff, promising honest advice and diligent implementation of the new leadership’s decisions.

“We shall offer honest, professional advice, implement your decisions diligently, and work tirelessly to help you succeed. Because when ministers succeed, government succeeds. And when government succeeds, Uganda succeeds,” Ggoobi stated, emphasizing the collective goal of national success.

He concluded by affirming the ministry’s commitment to working closely with the new team to secure Uganda’s economic future and drive national development priorities.
