Prominent figures from the Teso region, including religious leaders from both the Catholic and Anglican denominations, cultural elders representing the Iteso Cultural Union (ICU), and select Members of Parliament, are reportedly converging at Gen. Salim Saleh’s Kapeeka residence this Friday. The primary objective of this high-level meeting is to appeal to Gen. Saleh for his assistance in navigating the current political and legal difficulties confronting former Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among.

Sources indicate that the delegation aims to secure Gen. Saleh’s help in facilitating “forgiveness” and reconciliation for Ms. Among, following a period of considerable political backlash. The initiative underscores a broader regional effort by cultural and faith leaders to support one of Teso’s most prominent political figures.

The planned engagement follows previous efforts, including a visit by the Emorimor (cultural leader of Teso) who discussed Ms. Among’s situation with President Museveni, advocating for fair treatment and due process.
