Nansana Nominees Cause Traffic Chaos with Grand Entrances

Nansana Division experienced considerable traffic snarl-ups and a slowdown in business as hopefuls for Local Council I (LC1) chairperson seats made their presence known through vibrant nomination day parades.

Aspiring leaders arrived at nomination centers accompanied by throngs of supporters, often jamming roads in areas like Kazo, Nabweru, and Nansana. These demonstrations of popularity included packed convoys of motorcycles, energetic youth groups, and jubilant crowds escorting candidates.

Some nominees were carried aloft by cheering supporters, while others arrived in extensive motorcycle processions, contributing to the widespread traffic congestion that affected daily operations in the affected localities.

Yusuf Ssempagama Kaye, aiming for the Nabweru South Cell II LC1 chairperson position, stated his intention to run stems from a perception of a “failed” current leadership that hasn’t uplifted residents’ welfare. He expressed a belief in the necessity of “new leadership that responds to the people’s needs.”

Conversely, James Kizito, vying for the Lugoba II village chairperson seat, is seeking re-election to “continue extending better services to our residents.”

In Kazo Muganzirwaza, aspirant Ismail Kigozi showcased his campaign with a dance performance while being carried on supporters’ shoulders. Kigozi highlighted his “experience needed to keep our village peaceful and secure,” urging residents to “entrust me with the responsibility of leading them.”

The nomination process, managed by the Electoral Commission, serves as the official gateway for candidates before the upcoming LC1 elections commence, with official campaigning set to follow the nominations.
