Namyalo Encourages Women's Active Participation in Council Elections

Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, the Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), has made a strong appeal to women across Uganda to participate decisively in the upcoming Women Council elections. Speaking during a mobilization tour in Makindye Division, Namyalo highlighted the critical role of strong grassroots leadership in ensuring that government programs effectively reach and benefit intended communities.

Namyalo’s tour included monitoring the ongoing voter register verification and registration exercise, a process she stressed is vital for a credible and inclusive electoral system. She visited Lubowa Village in Kibuli Parish, where she directly engaged with residents, urging them to ensure their voter details are accurate.

“Before expecting empowerment, we must first elect good leaders,” Namyalo stated, emphasizing the direct link between accountable leadership and the successful implementation of government initiatives. She pointed out the challenges faced when grassroots leaders lack accountability, hindering the flow of resources and programs to the populace.

She urged women to look beyond the elections and choose leaders who demonstrate a genuine commitment to service, accountability, and addressing local issues. Namyalo also took the opportunity to remind women about the government’s ongoing efforts, under President Museveni’s leadership, to support women’s empowerment through entrepreneurship and other income-generating ventures. She encouraged them to seize these opportunities to achieve economic independence and contribute to household and national development.

Namyalo further advised residents to select capable parish leaders who can effectively coordinate government programs and ensure the efficient delivery of public resources. She described hard work, economic independence, and active participation in leadership as fundamental pillars for improving livelihoods and advancing national progress.
