The Buganda Kingdom is actively encouraging its subjects to sign up for the “Tubeere Balamu” Health Insurance Scheme. This initiative, spearheaded by His Majesty the Kabaka, aims to make quality healthcare more accessible and alleviate the significant financial burden of medical expenses.

The call to action was made by the Kingdom’s Attorney General, Christopher Bwanika, during the official launch of the scheme’s registration drive in Kampala’s Masekkati Sub-county. Bwanika highlighted that the “Tubeere Balamu” scheme, operated through the Kabaka Foundation, was established to ensure that people can receive necessary medical treatment without facing prohibitive costs.

“The Kabaka introduced this health insurance scheme to ensure that his people can access quality healthcare without having to spend huge amounts of money whenever they fall sick. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and invest in their health,” stated Bwanika at the event. He also personally enrolled in the scheme and formally opened the registration period for residents of Kampala.

Edward Kaggwa Ndagala, the Executive Director of the Kabaka Foundation, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the foundational role of good health in personal well-being and community progress. “When people are healthy, they are better able to work, support their families and contribute to the development of their communities. We therefore encourage everyone to join the scheme,” he urged.

Attendees at the launch expressed enthusiasm for the program, commending His Majesty the Kabaka for introducing an affordable health insurance option. Many present pledged to enroll, recognizing the scheme as a vital step towards securing comprehensive healthcare for themselves and their families.
