DNA-Denied Children of Paulo Kafeero to Get 20 Acres in Buikwe

Efforts are underway to secure a 20-acre parcel of land in Saalye Village, Buikwe District, for children whose paternity to the late Kadongo Kamu musician Paul Job Kafeero was not confirmed by DNA tests. This initiative aims to provide a stable future and livelihoods for these individuals.

Abubaker Nende, Kafeero’s brother, along with land brokers, has identified a suitable plot and is now proceeding with a land search at the Mukono Ministry of Lands office to ensure clear ownership before finalizing purchase negotiations. The identified land is expected to facilitate farming and livestock activities, offering a source of income.

Nende stated that the land will also serve a dual purpose as a family home and a designated burial ground for their relatives. The landowner is reportedly asking for Shs40 million per acre, totaling an estimated Shs800 million for the 20 acres.

Funds for the land purchase are being raised through contributions from well-wishers both within Uganda and internationally. Nende expressed gratitude for the positive response to their appeal. The chosen location is also strategic due to its proximity to Kafeero’s burial site in Bukunja, Kyagwe, allowing the children to easily visit and maintain their father’s grave site.

To bolster the fundraising efforts, a concert is planned for next month in Nkokonjeru Town. Karim Ntegge, Kafeero’s former promoter, is collaborating with the late singer’s brothers and former manager to organize additional fundraising concerts in Nkokonjeru and Kampala. Legal guidance will be sought regarding the use of Kafeero’s name in these events to prevent potential disputes with the children recognized through DNA testing.

Local residents in Buikwe have expressed their support for this initiative, viewing it as a crucial step in providing these children with a home and a foundation for their future.
